MacArthur Museum Brisbane

Even though the World War II has been over for more than half a century, yet its memories are still fresh and still an important part in everybody’s life. The time when our Grand Parents were young and our parents were just kids, the world was into a war which had no way out. It was due to brave men like General MacArthur Douglas the world is free from fascist regimes which would have lead the world into more darkness than innovation.

Being on the allied side, Australia too was threatened from the imperial Japanese Army which was determined to overtake any obstruction that came into its path. The MacArthur museum takes its visitors to a passage of time which was dark and a time when brave men like General Douglas stood up to fight against evil forces.

The museum is informative in number of ways as it gives an opportunity to the visitors to visit the General’s office where he sat along with his colleagues to chart out war strategies against the axis powers. It was in this very office where he planned the strategy to recapture Philippines for the allied forces.

The museum was opened on 15th August in the year 2005. It was inaugurated by Peter Beattie, the Premier of the State of Queensland for celebrating the 59th anniversary of the end of the war. The museum is located on the 8th floor of the MacArthur Chambers in Brisbane.

The museum is a great place to learn about Brisbane’s war time history. The place where museum stands today, served as headquarters for the allied Forces South West Pacific Region. The museum also throws a great light on the alliance between United States and Australia.

The museum brings the memories of the past into the present as the tourist inside could feel the anxiety of the people of Brisbane when they feared that their city might be invaded by the axis powers. The museum also displays the courier mails which the people of Brisbane used to read every morning.

The museum is indeed a great place which must be visited by people of all ages. The museum stands as a testimony to Australia’s commitment towards world peace and universal harmony.

Besides the above, people also gets a chance to see the evils of the war. Listening and hearing about war is one thing but living in a war is another. Brisbane is a city of reflects historical glories of Australia. There are few other great historical places like Brisbane City Hall , Boorowa Historical Museum And Anzac Square War Memorial.
